Bobby Rush's, D-Ill., center, wife will take place next week in Chicago. (CQ Roll Call file photo)-- Funeral services were announced Wednesday for Carolyn Rush, wife of Illinois Democratic Rep. Bobby L. Rush.The congressman announced on Monday that his wife had passed away at 68 of congestive heart failure. [Rep. Bobby Rush’s Wife Dies]The funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. March 25 in Chicago at the Freedom Temple COGIC (1459 W. 74th St.). The wake will take place at 10 a.m.Flowers, acknowledgments and resolutions should be forward in care of Leaks & Son Funeral Home, 7838 S. Cottage Grove Ave., Chicago IL 60619.Carolyn Rush died at the University of Chicago Hospital and Rush and their children were at her bedside, Rush’s office said. The 71-year-old congressman and his wife were married for 36 years. They had seven children, one of whom died in his 20s. Born in Saluda County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Holloway and the late Sarah Phillips Holloway. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she was an usher, Mother of the Church, Missionary Society and the Gospel Chorus. She was also a member of Women’s Aide Society No. 104, the Little Mountain Road Community Club and the Breakfast Club. Preceding her in death were three daughters, Jonell Wideman, Lisa Wideman and Janet Wideman; two brothers, Irby Holloway and Jesse Holloway; and one sister, Annie Houston.She leaves to cherish her memories, four sons, Tommie (Deborah) Wideman, Fred Wideman, Alex Wideman and SFC Wayne Wideman, all of Saluda; four daughters, Linda Wideman Smith of Saluda, Sara (Donald) Virginia Bellamy of Baltimore, MD, Brenda Backus and Keitoria Williams, both of the home; one brother, James C. Holloway of Charlotte, NC; six sisters, Maggie Hamilton, Gloria (Frank) McDonald, Laura (Gilbert) Hooper, all of Charlotte, NC, Shirley Anderson of Pageland, SC, Mildred Turner of Gastonia, NC, and Julia Angell of Las Vegas, NV; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildrenl and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.Funeral services will be held Noon on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Antioch Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. R.C. Oglesby. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.There will be a visitation from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.The family is at the home.
